Dr Marina Jirotka is Director of the Centre for Requirements and Foundations at Oxford University Computing Laboratory, Lecturer in Requirements Engineering, Fellow of St Cross, Associate Director of the Oxford e-Research Centre, and James Martin Research Fellow. Her research interests have long been concerned with attempting to bring a richer comprehension of socially organised work practice into the process of engineering technological systems with a focus on supporting everyday work and interaction. In recent years her research has focussed on e-Science applications, particularly e-Health where her interests have been in revealing how scientists work practices and the technologies they use are thoroughly entwined. She is a principal investigator on projects detailing the ethical, legal and institutional issues of more recent technological developments such as the Grid; and of investigating how to embed e-science applications with particular emphasis on usability. She was recently awarded an SSRC/ESRC Visiting Fellowship to the Universities of Santa Clara (Center for Science Technology and Society) and Los Angeles (Dept of Information Studies).where she will be investigating a framework for understanding complex data sharing in eResearch domains
