My main reserarch interests are in the areas of Knowledge Representation, Description Logics, and their application to to the problem of Information Integration.
I am currently working in the development of query rewriting algorithms for conjunctive queries over tractable Description Logics. We plan to implement such techniques in a real Information Integration framework in the near future.
I am a third year DPhil student, member of the Knowledge Representation and Reasoning group, working under the supervision of professor Ian Horrocks. Before coming to Oxford, I was a PhD student at the University of Manchester, under the joint supervision of professors Ian Horrocks and Uli Sattler.
I received a bachelor degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the Universidad de las Américas, Puebla in Mexico in December 2004. My BSc. thesis is entitled "SKIMA: Semantic Knowledge and Information Management". SKIMA is a GaV Information Integration system that gives transparent access to heterogeneous and distributed sources considering their semantics and the semantics of application requirements.
