Programming models and abstractions for distributed and parallel systems.
biography
I have just completed a doctorate looking at large scale distributed data analysis under the supervision of Dr Andrew Martin and Dr Raphael Hauser. During this time I developed a prototype of a language called Martlet and an underlying Web Service based middleware, built on Apache Axis and Jakarta Tomcat. This language is used to abstract away the complexities of distributed data and parallel analysis through the use of constructs inspired from functional programming. So assisting with the analysis of the data generated by the ClimatePrediction.net project. which is too large to move to a single location for analysis and is partitioned across many highly distributed servers
