My research interests are in logics for Knowledge Representation. I am especially interested in ontology-based technologies and their applications to the Semantic Web.
I have been recently involved in the design of the ontology language OWL 2 (previously known as OWL 1.1), and have participated in the development of techniques, algorithms and tools for ontology design and maintenance.
I was born in Valencia (Spain) in October 1978. I studied both Physics and Computer Science at the Universidad de Valencia. In Fall 2001, I joined the Ph.D. program in Computer Science at the same university. In 2002, I obtained an F.P.U fellowship from the Spanish government that funded my doctoral work. I was a visiting scholar at the University of Maryland at College Park, where I completed my doctoral research on Knowledge Representation and Semantic Web technologies. In November 2005 I defended my Ph.D. dissertation and soon after I joined the Information Management Group at the University of Manchester. After two years in Manchester, I joined the Computing Laboratory at the University of Oxford as a Research Officer. I am currently a member of the Information Systems group leaded by Prof. Georg Gottlob and Prof. Ian Horrocks
